my thoughts on sunlight burnt vampires: Orlok did not burn in the sunlight; he instantly disintegrated in a puff smoke (no fire at all). Vampires in Buffy the Vampire slayer catch on fire.
In old lore (predating the Bram Stoker novel), the accounts vary; sometimes vampires catch on fire and othertimes they are severly weakened by sunlight. One of the was you could tell if a person was a vampire in the old days was if they were very lethargic in the daytime (never mind that it could have just been from lack of sleep).

This comic is an absolute delight to read :D Historical setting, vampires, violent religious people... I love it and I'm looking forward to seeing how it will continue.
